How We Review the Products We Pick

Here is some important legal stuff we need to get out of the way. We are in no way paid or affiliated as advertisers for any of the companies we review. The only reason we even join any of them is to fully be able to review their business and compensation procedures. Furthermore, the assessments that we offer are ours and ours alone. The opinions represented on this site are not those of the companies being reviewed. We are plain, regular people who are dedicated to investigating companies whose claims we deem potentially misleading to ourselves or the general public.

We pick a company for review after either experiencing the company for ourselves or by popular demand. Through our contact page you will also have a say in which future companies we review. Every few months we will pick the most requested MLM or network marketing company and take them for a real world test drive. If there is not sufficient requests for a company of interest, then we will choose from one of the companies that we have already tried out in the past, and trust me we have a few. I’m not too proud to say that we have had a hard time learning our lesson in the past.

The reason for so much time in-between reviews is to give each company a fair shot. As you can imagine, to fully dive into the experience they offer, we must join their program and completely use all the resources that they make available for all their down lines. Another reason for the expanse of time between reviews is that all of us here at MHA.com work full time and have families that we love dearly. So spending time with them is our first goal always. Also many of these programs are very expensive and since three or four of us join at the same time, the expense can get a bit overwhelming, which leads me back to having to work our full-time jobs. The reason for more than one of us joining any particular program is to collect enough data as well as different experiences. More times then not, each one of us end up having very different experiences and it’s only fair to bring all those differences to the table. This allows us to bring you the most diverse information possible. After all, you should be taking into consideration all the information you can find, not just from us but also from other sources, before making your decision.

Once we have picked a program to review, we start out by searching for the most common way people typically hear of joining the company. In other words, we ask the question, “What is their main goal of advertising?” Do they follow a true MLM model, which utilizes word of mouth advertising, or do they use a mass market advertising model? These different practices tell you a lot about whether a company is pursuing a true MLM business model. A company who uses an MLM model that has a good product with excited sellers will not need to launch a large-scale multi-media campaign. A true MLM will use good old fashion word of mouth to get the news out about the product, and the money saved from not expending advertisement costs can be passed on to the consumer through up line compensation plans and product pricing incentives. Most MLM programs we have looked at are advertised locally, and have local or regional sales representatives and distributors. Finding them is usually as easy as looking for flyers on a job posting wall, either at a grocery store or if there is a college in the area, job walls can be found there. Once we find the flyer, it’s as simple as calling the number on the flyer and witness how the sales people work their magic.

Since it is not possible for us to review every company we come across, we use their sales pitch as a gauge for whether or not we should pursue a review. Things we look for are outlandish claims about the products and the use of words like “cure,” “life changing,” and in general, the rags to riches philosophy portrayed by so many scams. We also look at whether or not the company has a national program or whether they are small and confined to a local geographic area. Our goal for the time being is to review larger scale MLM’s. These larger companies have been around longer and there is a lot more information about their products. Also, their business model is more set in-stone, which gives us a better outline for where they are succeeding and where they are struggling. We will typically open up several accounts and purchase most of the support items that come with the MLM program, with each program taking three to four months to review and to put their products to the test through general use.

Once we have finished the review of the program, we close or consolidate most of the accounts and set them to inactive. These accounts are later used to sign up people who wish to use the products, but don’t want to go through a regular distributor or sale representative. Most of the companies we have researched do not allow you to sign up without a distributor number from an already active member, meaning you have to go through someone to sign up. As you can imagine, this procedure once again makes it very hard for anyone to get by their pushy sales people. With our test account, people can sign up to get the product and not get a face full of “guilt pressure” selling. Many of our readers try out these companies for themselves, especially if our reviews are mixed. In that event, we take the support materials that we bought and auction them off to anyone who is interested in them (look for our materials auction page to go live soon, it’s a good way to save a lot of money on the materials for any program we review). Material resale also gives us a way to recoup some of our money from the initial program investment, which in many cases has been very high.

(Here is a bit of a review spoiler…this review will show you what I meant in my last comment up there. Four of us tried Mona-vie, both the product and the MLM program. Our cost for this review was more then we had ever spent before, a few thousand dollars in fact. It ended up being so expensive for the simple fact that we bought the highest level of membership the company had to offer. We knew we really wanted to have a complete review, since this would be the review that would also launch our new website. Thank God we at least all loved the product and in fact are still using it. However, that was all we ended up agreeing on. I,along with another family member, hated the MLM program and got very little out of it. Yet two members from our partner family that investigates with us had a much better experience, and in fact made a little bit of money with the program showing that there is viability in their program. We will bring you those results in our Review page.)

As with anything in life, money plays a giant factor in what, when, and how we make our reviews. Our loyal little group of followers continues to be our greatest source of funding and as our following grows, we hope that the funding in the form of donations will also. That will, in turn, allow us to have a faster turnaround time in our reviews, by way of us being able to run two review programs at one time. So please donate any amount you can…no donation is too small.
